Hirifa kite spot starts where the coconut strees stop, and a five-mile-long sandbank begins. Wind speed is regular from every direction, there are not any mountains blocking the wind, just white sand and turquoise water!

Hirifa motu has one local restaurant-bar, family style and open upon request. We love to also make beach BBQs followed by full moon kite sessions!

Bauti, a visiting kiter from Argentina, makes an epic downwind kite session followed by our sailboats in Fakarava lagoonBauti takes a break at a sandbank in the middle of a kite session

Hirifa sailboat anchorage is located at a shallow, safe, pink sand corner of the lagoon of Fakarava protected by a small motu with coconut trees.

THE BOATS:

Tuamotu Kite School is based at anchor in Hirifa, Fakarava aboard our two sailboats, a monohull named Eureka and a catamaran named Pizza.

Sometimes, we like to sail to other atolls to explore new kite spots and make friends with local people while we enjoy the best of what the Tuamotu archipelago has to offer: happy people, sailing, freediving, spearfishing, surfing, SCUBA diving, seafood of many kinds & coconuts prepared every way!

Sailing aboard the catamaran named Pizza, home base for the Tuamotu Kite School

Flying the spinnaker, always a good time, it is such a huge and beautiful sail

Sharks are friends, not food. Sharks of all kinds visit Pizza every day, they are not dangerous to swim with, however, you must take care while spearfishing. (image credit: Crista Funk)
